Role Overview
The Senior IT Architect will act as the key expert in designing and delivering robust IT infrastructure solutions for transport mobility systems. This includes assessing and validating infrastructure designs concerning servers, storage, networking, virtualization, management platforms, PCI compliance, and disaster recovery strategies. The role involves overseeing architectural design, engineering, and system integration while supporting commercial bids and project variations by formulating detailed infrastructure plans and cost projections. The position requires significant independence while collaborating closely with technical and business stakeholders and serving as a trusted advisor.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive design and evaluation of infrastructure solutions encompassing compute, storage, networking, and data protection for critical business applications.
- Define systems requirements, architectural frameworks, and integration strategies grounded on operational and business demands.
- Guide system-level design considerations, including partitioning and architecture definition.
- Enhance cloud and infrastructure environments continuously with a focus on cost-efficiency and effective financial oversight.
- Guarantee platform availability, scalability, and resilience.
- Supervise implementation of backup, restoration, and disaster recovery tactics.
- Lead collaborative development and rollout of solutions alongside Engineering, DevOps, and other interdisciplinary teams.
- Coordinate closely with Release and Change Management to ensure organized and compliant deployment cycles, including contingency planning.
- Engage in change review and approval processes in alignment with company policies.
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to engineers and support personnel.
- Collaborate across internal departments and with external partners to harmonize technical outcomes and client engagements.
- Assist in bids, tenders, and change request processes including drafting detailed infrastructure designs and cost analyses.
- Drive ongoing improvements within infrastructure and operations.
- Adhere to quality, occupational health and safety, security protocols, and human resource policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field.
- 8 to 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure management including high-performance cloud environments.
- Extensive architectural expertise in servers, storage, networks, and application infrastructure.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services, including proficiency with automation and cloud-native offerings.
- Proven track record in developing detailed infrastructure designs and cost estimates for new client projects.
- Comprehensive understanding of high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery practices.
- Experience with sophisticated network architectures such as load balancers, firewalls, and virtual networking.
- Familiarity with call centre systems like ACD/PBX, CTI, and IVR technologies.
- Strong background in system performance tuning and optimization.
- Knowledge of configuration and deployment of monitoring and alert systems.
- Excellent problem solving, analytical abilities, and sound judgment skills.
- Effective stakeholder management, well-honed written and verbal communication, and influencing capabilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across multiple organizational levels.
