Senior Instrumentation Technician

Role Overview

The Senior Instrumentation Technician position demands expertise in installing, testing, calibrating, maintaining, and repairing instrumentation and control devices. This role involves diagnosing issues with sensors, transmitters, controllers, control valves, and related systems, particularly within water treatment and distribution environments.

Key Duties

• Carry out the installation, calibration, testing, and upkeep of instrumentation and control equipment.
• Identify and resolve faults in various instrumentation components including sensors, transmitters, and controllers.
• Perform scheduled preventive as well as corrective maintenance tasks on instrumentation assets.
• Carry out regular inspections at treatment plants, pumping stations, and water distribution facilities.
• Utilize calibration, diagnostic, and testing tools to detect equipment malfunctions.
• Respond promptly to equipment failures and ensure swift restoration to minimize downtime.
• Interpret technical schematics such as P&IDs, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, and other relevant documents.
• Keep detailed records of maintenance, calibration, and faults.
• Draft technical reports and strictly uphold health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
• Offer technical support and mentorship to junior staff when necessary.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Completion of High School or a Technical Diploma specializing in Instrumentation, Instrumentation & Control, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
• Demonstrable practical experience in instrumentation and control system maintenance.
• Preferred experience working within water treatment plants, desalination facilities, pumping stations, or utility companies.
• Proficient in calibration techniques and adept at troubleshooting and diagnosing technical faults.
• Solid understanding of both preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.
