About the Role

Join the Customer Support Business Group, dedicated to delivering premier support throughout the customer lifecycle for Lam Research. The group enhances equipment performance, productivity, safety, and quality by providing service and lifecycle solutions for critical tools and processes.

As a Field Process Engineer in Technology Development, you will play a vital role in creating and refining next-generation semiconductor manufacturing technologies. Your responsibilities will include conducting experiments, characterizing processes, benchmarking technologies, and collaborating across teams to transition innovations from concept to production. You will focus on advanced process development, assist in new technology introductions, and provide expert technical support to solve complex integration challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and fine-tune semiconductor processes targeting advanced technologies and emerging applications.
  • Plan and perform Design of Experiments (DOE) to test new process concepts, materials, and equipment capabilities.
  • Assess process performance and define parameters to satisfy technical standards.
  • Explore innovative processing techniques to enhance device performance, yield, and reliability.
  • Conduct feasibility analyses, proofs-of-concept, and technology demonstrations for internal teams and external clients.
  • Investigate emerging semiconductor processing methods, materials, and industry trends.
  • Support technology development programs related to etch, deposition, cleaning, or similar processes.
  • Collaborate globally with technology teams, research organizations, and customers to evaluate novel technologies.
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Electronics, Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science or related disciplines; or Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience; or Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years in semiconductor process engineering, technology development, or research roles demonstrating significant technical impact.
  • Hands-on knowledge of etch, clean, or deposition equipment is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical mindset and systematic problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience designing, executing, and analyzing DOE studies.
  • Solid understanding of semiconductor process development, integration, and characterization.
  • Effective communication skills in technical writing and presentations.
  • Experience authoring technical publications, conference papers, or research reports.

Preferred Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and DOE methodologies.
  • Strong foundational analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
