Role Overview

JioStar is seeking a Senior Executive to join their Standards and Practices unit, focusing on Marathi content regulation. Based in Mumbai, this role demands overseeing the compliance of all content featured on JioHotstar Specials (Malayalam), ensuring alignment with regulatory, internal, and industry standards. The role entails collaboration across various organizational teams to manage risks, ensure adherence, and uphold business and creative goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and assess all short and long format content such as acquired and original shows, films, promos, clips, advertisements, and social media materials for compliance risks.
  • Actively identify potential infringements against OTT and broadcast codes, company policies, government regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Protect the brand by flagging risks associated with defamation, copyright infringements, trademark issues, reputation harm, and other compliance sensitivities.
  • Work closely with Content, Marketing, Operations, Legal, and Business units to facilitate timely compliance approval processes.
  • Develop and maintain expertise on Indian regulatory frameworks governing digital and TV content, including OTT guidelines and bodies like BCCC, CBFC, and ASCI.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficient in written and spoken English and Marathi, with Hindi knowledge as a plus.
  • Sound understanding of Indian socio-political, religious, and cultural contexts.
  • Appreciation of local traditions, social issues, and subjects of human interest.
  • Capable communication, presentation, and articulation skills.
  • Able to clearly interpret content risks and offer constructive, balanced feedback.

Personal Qualities

  • Strong enthusiasm for Marathi, Hindi, and regional OTT and TV content, aware of Indian OTT market trends.
  • Active social media user, engaging with formats like reels, shorts, and stories.
  • Well-informed about current national affairs and news.
  • Detail-focused, organized, proactive, and responsible.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork capabilities.
  • Able to thrive in fast-moving, pressured environments with strict, changing broadcast deadlines.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 3 to 7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Preferably experienced in Standards & Practices or Content Compliance within entertainment content or programming, especially from GEC or OTT S&P teams.
  • Candidates from content writing, editing, journalism, translation, development, or marketing with strong media and compliance orientation are also welcomed.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in Media, History, Sociology, Literature, or related fields are preferred but not mandatory.
