Senior Estimator

About the Role

Our client in Galway is seeking a seasoned Senior Civils Estimator to join their preconstruction team. This role offers a strategic position focused on securing significant infrastructure projects by delivering precise and well-prepared tender submissions. The successful candidate will work closely with an experienced management and delivery team to ensure the company's growth in utilities and civil engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, pricing, and submission of competitive tenders for civil engineering and utility infrastructure projects.
• Oversee the entire tender process from initial enquiry to final submission and handover.
• Source, assess, and analyze supplier and subcontractor quotations effectively.
• Construct accurate cost estimates, pricing models, and formulate strategic bids.
• Collaborate closely with Design, Operations, Commercial, and Project Delivery teams to develop successful tender proposals.
• Identify, assess commercial risks and opportunities, and suggest value engineering alternatives.
• Develop tender programs and methodologies with operational teams.
• Participate in post-tender negotiations and client presentations as needed.
• Ensure all tender documents comply with established quality, safety, and environmental standards.
• Provide thorough handovers to project delivery teams upon project award.
• Mentor junior estimators and support the wider pre-construction team.
• Stay informed about market trends, supply chain dynamics, and industry developments.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Extensive experience estimating within civil engineering, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
• In-depth understanding of Irish construction contracts and procurement procedures.
• Experience in costing utility, power, telecommunications, water, gas, or heavy civil projects is highly advantageous.
• Strong commercial awareness combined with excellent analytical capabilities.
• Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, labor productivity, and supply chain pricing.
• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to juggle multiple tender projects while maintaining accuracy and thoroughness.
