Role Overview

As a Senior Estimator reporting to the Pre-Contracts Manager, you will lead estimating for major infrastructure tender opportunities across their full lifecycle. This role requires guiding complex bids, developing pricing and submission strategies, and managing relationships across diverse stakeholders. You will also provide leadership and mentorship to junior estimators including two direct reports while driving continuous improvement in estimating practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and timely delivery of competitive tender submissions.
• Develop and implement tender methodologies, pricing strategies, and submission plans.
• Manage tender schedules and coordinate multidisciplinary bid teams.
• Analyze project specifications, drawings, scope, and associated commercial risks.
• Promote value engineering and innovative project solutions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry stakeholders.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to junior estimators.
• Manage and mentor two direct estimating team members.
• Support business development and project pursuit activities.
• Contribute to ongoing enhancement of estimating systems, processes, and standards.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience estimating major civil infrastructure projects, including leading TfNSW road infrastructure tenders.
• Track record of successfully managing major tender processes from initial pursuit through submission.
• Strong leadership skills with a history of mentoring or managing teams.
• In-depth commercial understanding and risk assessment capability.
• Knowledgeable in construction methodologies, procurement strategies, and project delivery models.
• Demonstrates influence and builds trust across all levels of business stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, planning, and organizational abilities.
• A collaborative mindset with a commitment to developing team members.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline.
