Role Overview
This position involves managing core technology teams responsible for audio and imaging technologies integral to delivering exceptional Dolby content experiences. The Engineering and Core Technology Manager will oversee engineering staff, supporting their growth, performance, and career trajectories. The role specifically focuses on Dolby’s Intellectual Property (IP) & Software Security program, a critical component of our IP protection and software security strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and articulate Dolby’s vision and value proposition for IP Security.
- Facilitate alignment and agreement among diverse stakeholder groups to support proposed IP Security solutions.
- Leverage sound business insight to influence organizational mindset, enhancing IP Security’s role in profitability and shareholder value.
- Collaborate with an architect to establish processes and tools for secure software development to minimize vulnerabilities.
- Integrate the IP Security value proposition throughout the business and customer ecosystem, balancing company and customer needs.
- Create and update long-term IP Security technological strategies and roadmaps to safeguard Dolby’s IP in partner products.
- Plan and implement tactical development of security controls in alignment with the roadmap.
- Lead the IP and Software Security engineering teams to develop security controls employing agile methodologies, AI tools, and flexibility responding to market and internal changes.
- Steer cross-functional teams towards common goals via organizational navigation and IP Security leadership.
- Perform engineering management duties including hiring, onboarding, setting goals, conducting regular one-on-ones, coaching, providing feedback, managing performance, and fostering career growth.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in the industry.
- Strategic and tactical thinking skills focused on business outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills capable of engaging diverse organizational levels.
- Comprehensive knowledge of IP protection and security technologies and market players.
- Familiarity with hardware and software IP protection mechanisms, especially relating to embedded and consumer devices.
- Understanding of software protection approaches against reverse engineering and cryptographic principles.
- Experience with Trusted Execution Environments, TrustZone, virtualization, watermarking, tracking, security asset provisioning, code protection, and SOC architecture.
- Expertise in software security mechanisms including vulnerability research, exploit testing, fuzzing, use of AI models, and security research.
- Proven leadership experience managing technical teams and developing collaborative engineering cultures.
- Ability to build trust and strong partnerships internally and externally.
- Fluent communication skills adapting to technologists, business leaders, and product teams.
- Highly curious, staying current on relevant market trends and advancements.
