Role Overview

We seek exceptional Senior Engineers who demonstrate strong product intuition and a passion for solving unique challenges across frontend, backend, full stack, or platform engineering areas. Your contributions will be vital in delivering robust and well-crafted software integrated with hardware and AI tools, enhancing how farmers interact with technology on real farms.

Challenges and Responsibilities

• Develop systems that convert extensive sensor data from thousands of cattle collars into actionable decisions for farmers.
• Accurately model real-world elements like animals, pasture, and terrain in real time for precise operational responses.
• Create reliable mobile and web user experiences that function effectively in diverse, harsh outdoor conditions.
• Design scalable platforms and pipelines that maintain seamless growth with high reliability.
• Engineer solutions that operate efficiently despite hardware constraints, unpredictable rural connectivity, and other practical challenges.
• Design, implement, and deliver end-to-end features from user interfaces to backend services and infrastructure.
• Make informed architectural decisions and actively participate in coding to realize them.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, design, and product teams to produce impactful features swiftly.
• Mentor teammates through code reviews, design discussions, and thorough knowledge sharing.
• Ensure system reliability and performance, participating in an on-call rotation to address critical issues.
• Develop a strong understanding of farming domain knowledge by engaging directly with field operations.

Desired Qualifications & Skills

• Proven experience designing and launching complex production systems with demonstrated lessons learned.
• A product-oriented mindset with focus on enhancing customer experience alongside delivering clean code.
• Proficiency in using AI tools to enhance engineering productivity and focus.
• Experience mentoring and supporting engineering teams.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced and ambiguous environments prioritizing adaptability over perfection.
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
• A degree in software engineering or equivalent is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Additional expertise varying by specialization:
  • Frontend/Mobile: Skilled in UX design, modern frameworks like React or React Native, and performance optimization on devices.
  • Backend: Expertise in building scalable REST APIs, distributed and event-driven systems, and knowledge of databases; familiarity with Node.js, Kotlin, Go, and hardware/IoT integration is a plus.
  • Full stack: Competency across frontend, mobile, and backend services.
  • Platform: Experience creating internal tools that boost company efficiency, leveraging AWS, Terraform, CI/CD, monitoring, and on-call support.
