Role Overview

The Senior Engineer will be responsible for designing, constructing, and maintaining the core platforms that underpin Xlepius's AI-driven triage and documentation products. This role involves influencing architectural strategies, building scalable backend services, and ensuring optimal system performance and reliability in live environments. Daily activities include producing clean, test-supported code, performing peer code reviews, and collaborating with product managers, clinical advisors, and data teams to convert complex requirements into technical implementations. The position entails supporting application deployments, troubleshooting operational issues, and continuously enhancing engineering standards and tools. This is an on-site full-time opportunity based in Auckland with close teamwork across multiple disciplines.

Candidate Qualifications

• Comprehensive skills in software engineering, including proficiency in contemporary programming languages, data structures, algorithms, and system architecture design.
• Experience developing backend services, APIs, plus integrating with cloud infrastructures and databases.
• Understanding of AI or machine learning products, particularly applying models to production workflows and real-world applications.
• Knowledge of DevOps methodologies such as continuous integration/delivery, container usage, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Expertise in writing robust tests, managing code reviews, and maintaining high code quality and security standards.
• Ability to effectively partner with product and clinical teams, translating healthcare domain requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Desirable experience in healthcare, health technology, or other heavily regulated industries.
• Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong communication aptitudes, teamwork orientation, and willingness to mentor junior engineers.
• Chinese language proficiency is a plus but not mandatory.
