Job description

About Carbon Security Limited

Carbon Security Limited is a steadily expanding electronic security integration firm operating out of Christchurch, New Zealand. Established in 2018, the company has earned a strong reputation for delivering excellent service, trustworthy advice, and dependable solutions using premium security products. The company's growth is largely propelled by positive referrals and the trust gained from consistently successful project completions for its clients.

We prioritize cultivating strong client relationships by attentively addressing their needs and fulfilling them. We aim to be the premier choice for employees and clients rather than the largest security integrator.

Role Overview

We seek a senior Electronic Security Technician to handle commercial security installations and service projects across Christchurch and surrounding areas. Your expertise will secure people and critical assets at locations ranging from multi-story office buildings to high-security commercial sites using top-tier technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and commission enterprise-level security platforms such as Inner Range Integriti, Gallagher Command Centre, and Siemens SiPass.
  • Deploy sophisticated IP surveillance systems including Video Management Systems like Milestone, Geutebruck, Axis, and NX Witness, incorporating AI analytics.
  • Ensure all tasks comply with AS/NZS Electronic Security standards.
  • Collaborate with client IT personnel to manage VLANs, calculate Power over Ethernet (PoE) budgets, and establish secure remote access configurations.
  • Completely commission projects from initial equipment setup to fully programmed and client-ready systems.
  • Lead by example in installation quality, project scoping, documentation, and communication on site. Share knowledge to enhance and upskill colleagues and influence operational practices.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess at least five years of experience in the commercial security industry.
  • Hold certifications in widely used enterprise CCTV and access control systems.
  • Have a current New Zealand PSPLA Certificate of Approval (COA) and a clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
  • Excelling at diagnosing technical issues, understanding signal flows, network delays, and logic troubleshooting rather than merely replacing parts.
  • Professional demeanor, able to represent the company effectively in meetings and on-site locations.
  • Demonstrate strong ownership and integrity by treating each project as your own—ensuring meticulous work even without supervision and proactively identifying potential problems.
  • Enthusiastic about mentoring new technicians, sharing your expertise, and supporting team development.
  • Familiar with the local Christchurch environment, resilient to weather conditions, and enjoys working within a collaborative and enjoyable team atmosphere.

Why Work With Carbon Security?

  • A supportive, respectful company culture without micromanagement.
  • Competitive compensation reflecting your advanced commercial technical skills.
  • Provision of essential tools including a vehicle, laptop, and phone for work purposes.
  • Investment in your continued professional development and industry certifications.
  • Opportunities for career advancement and leadership as the business grows.
  • Additional benefits aligned with your career progression within the company.
