Role Overview
We seek a seasoned Electrical Estimator experienced in low, medium, and high voltage electrical projects to join our team in Brisbane, with potential locations also in Sydney or Melbourne. Hybrid work options are available. This role requires close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to thoroughly analyze project scopes and tender submissions, producing precise cost estimates using advanced digital tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess enquiry details ensuring all necessary information such as drawings, commercial terms, and technical specifications are sufficient for accurate estimation.
- Analyze project labor, materials, equipment, and resource needs to forecast costs effectively.
- Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and measurements from project documentation.
- Develop competitive bids and proposals aligned with client requirements and project goals.
- Review and appraise quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to confirm accuracy and competitiveness of costs.
- Cultivate strong partnerships with suppliers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders throughout the estimating process.
- Organize and maintain comprehensive records including calculations, assumptions, quotations, and related documentation.
- Identify and integrate potential risks, uncertainties, and cost-saving opportunities with appropriate contingencies.
- Keep abreast of market trends influencing material and labor costs to maintain current and competitive estimates.
- Revise estimates responsively to project scope changes, design updates, clarifications, and commercial conditions.
- Prepare and deliver detailed cost reports and presentations, highlighting cost drivers, risks, and savings prospects for both internal and external audiences.
- Support the tender submission process by preparing and issuing relevant documentation.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies in all estimations and proposals.
- Apply expertise in electrical and control systems to inform project estimates.
- Provide thorough and accurate handover documentation to project teams at project commencement.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in the Utilities, Industrial, Mining, or Transport industries within Tier 1 or Tier 2 contracting environments. Academic requirements include a Trade Certificate, diploma, or relevant bachelor's degree. The role demands a strong ability to identify and manage risks and opportunities during project estimation and proposal stages. Candidates must possess proven skills in preparing detailed project estimates and tender documents, comprehensive knowledge of control systems, and experience with digital estimating tools. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are essential for clear, accurate documentation.
