Role Overview
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer reporting to the Electrical Design Manager, you will be a key senior team member responsible for leading design projects. This role demands extensive cross-disciplinary engineering skills, effective communication with diverse stakeholders, and the capability to manage design packages from review through procurement and site handover.
Success in this dynamic, fast-paced environment requires technical expertise and exceptional project team management. You will prioritize tasks, coordinate teams, and ensure compliant delivery of building facilities while supporting various managers and engineers across the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers, construction managers, consultants, subcontractors, and clients to develop and execute detailed project plans.
- Develop scope-of-work documents, task information deliverables, and responsibility matrices for electrical disciplines.
- Identify and manage design risks, maintaining accurate records and escalating issues as necessary.
- Participate in design meetings with ongoing input for optimization and assist with tender and pre-construction deliverables.
- Oversee design package approvals, construction adherence, and conduct site visits to monitor progress and quality.
- Ensure all electrical designs comply with technical and country-specific standards, assessing risks and proposing value engineering and off-site manufacturing solutions.
- Prepare handover documentation for site teams and coordinate interfaces among electrical, mechanical, and civil disciplines.
- Integrate sustainability principles into design processes and evaluate environmental impacts.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation including procurement schedules, technical submittals, registers, logs, and trackers to support project delivery.
- Provide technical support to construction teams and participate in recruitment as needed.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of postgraduate experience within Industrial, Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, or Data Centre sectors.
- Thorough knowledge of statutory consent processes and building regulations.
- Proven expertise in design, technical, and construction disciplines relevant to electrical engineering.
- Experience leading meetings and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficient in structural design and analysis software such as BIM and Revit.
