Role Overview

The Senior EHS Advisor role is located in Cork, working primarily within the Commercial and Pharmaceutical sectors with potential travel between various ongoing projects. As a key member of the team, the individual will be responsible for enhancing, maintaining, and overseeing the company’s Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) management system, ensuring full compliance with health and safety legislation at all times.

Core Responsibilities

• Apply and enforce the company’s EHS policies, procedures, and management systems effectively.
• Offer expert advice, guidance, and training on safety matters to management, safety representatives, employees, and subcontractors.
• Ensure all operations adhere to legal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Promote and sustain excellent safety practices throughout all projects.
• Deliver comprehensive health and safety training programs such as site induction for new employees and subcontractors.
• Lead the creation and review of specific EHS documentation including method statements, risk assessments, safe plans of action, and permits to work.
• Conduct frequent site inspections and audits, report findings to site and senior management, and ensure immediate corrective actions are taken.
• Manage incident management processes: reporting, recording, investigating, and communicating lessons learned; notifying Directors, relevant authorities, and insurers as required.
• Ensure safety interventions are performed and documented, promoting proactive EHS compliance on projects.
• Perform EHS system administrative tasks such as maintaining records, registers, monthly reporting, and preparing presentations for leadership.
• Support site management by drafting and disseminating EHS initiatives and Toolbox Talks.
• Prepare and compile documentation for project Safety Files and client handovers upon project completion.
• Champion the company’s vision to maintain a safe, healthy, and incident-free workplace.

Required Skills and Experience

• Possess a relevant third-level qualification in Environmental, Health and Safety.
• At least 8 years of professional experience in the EHS domain.
• Proven track record of working on large scale projects.
• Hold a valid full clean driving license.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel capabilities.
• Demonstrate ability to operate independently with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience in building and maintaining effective working relationships and managing stakeholders.
