Overview
Join the Ministry of Education New Zealand as a Senior Education Advisor at our New Plymouth office. This permanent full-time position involves contributing to shaping a fair and high-quality education system for students across Aotearoa. Our team is diverse and dedicated, working collaboratively to make a meaningful impact within the education sector.
Role Objectives
The Senior Education Advisor supports the Education Advisory service by facilitating the implementation of government education priorities. Key functions include delivering clear communication of strategies, providing and coordinating implementation assistance, monitoring progress, and working with schools, kura, and whānau to promote consistent student engagement and attendance. The role uses targeted supports and interventions aimed at improving attendance and achievement outcomes.
Salary & Benefits
The pay range for this position is NZD 85,225 to 103,071 per annum plus KiwiSaver contributions. Individual salary offerings will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates possess a strong background in the schooling sector, including relevant legislative knowledge. Experience leading school teams is highly preferred. Applicants should demonstrate:

- Competency in analyzing data and applying insights to detect trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Exceptional communication skills with proven ability to deliver clear, timely, and quality advice in both written and oral forms.
- Team-oriented mindset capable of collaborative problem-solving within integrated service delivery models.
- Understanding and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
- Commitment to uphold Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
About the Team
Te Mahau | Te Tai Whenua leads and integrates services across education sectors, offering guidance, regulation, and learning support for schools and early childhood services. The group works closely with various providers and communities to ensure every child and young person has access to expertise and resources for their development.
