Senior Digital Drilling Solutions Consultant

Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Digital Drilling Solutions Consultant to advance digital drilling, well engineering, and drilling performance projects for a leading oil and gas company. The ideal candidate will blend comprehensive drilling domain knowledge with expertise in drilling software, data management, well planning, and performance enhancement. This role involves close collaboration with drilling, wells, operational, and digital technology teams to elevate decision-making, data accuracy, and operational productivity throughout the life of wells.

Main Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert on digital drilling and well engineering technologies.
• Assist in the deployment, improvement, and user adoption of drilling and planning tools.
• Collaborate with drilling teams to streamline planning, execution, and analysis of wells.
• Manage, integrate, and ensure governance of drilling and well-related data.
• Evaluate operational drilling results and suggest improvements for performance and efficiency.
• Work cross-functionally with drilling, geology, subsurface, completions, IT, and development teams.
• Convert business needs into technical requirements and functional specifications.
• Support software configuration, rollout, testing, and user acceptance processes.
• Organize workshops, training, and engagement with stakeholders.
• Contribute to broader digital transformation and operational excellence efforts.
• Create reports, dashboards, workflows, and actionable insights to foster data-driven decisions.
• Enable integration across drilling applications, databases, reporting tools, and real-time data systems.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
• At least 8 years’ experience in the oil and gas sector.
• In-depth knowledge of drilling engineering concepts and well construction processes.
• Proven experience supporting drilling software platforms and digital drilling or well planning tools.
• Familiarity with drilling operational data, engineering calculations, and performance monitoring.
• Hands-on understanding of drilling performance indicators such as Rate of Penetration, Weight on Bit, Torque, Hookload, Standpipe Pressure, vibration, and drilling dysfunction signals.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Ability to engage effectively with technical, operational, and business colleagues.

Desirable Experience

• Background with drilling engineering and well planning software applications.
• Experience in managing drilling data platforms and data governance.
• Knowledge of digital well planning and use of engineering databases.
• Familiar with data integration and interoperability within drilling environments.
• Understanding of WITSML standards and real-time drilling data systems.
• Exposure to drilling performance analytics and optimization programs.
• Experience with agile methodologies in project delivery.
• Proven ability to gather technical requirements and work alongside software development teams.
• Experience in field operations including rig sites or real-time operations centers.
• Familiarity with cloud, analytics, AI, or digital oilfield innovations is an advantage.
