Senior DevOps Engineer

We are currently looking for a highly experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our expanding engineering team based in Edinburgh, Scotland. This vital position involves designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure, automation tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and platform services that uphold our External Marketplace platform and API ecosystem.

You will collaborate closely with engineers, architects, security professionals, and product stakeholders to create dependable and secure cloud-native solutions. You'll take a central role in setting infrastructure standards, spearheading automation efforts, enhancing operational stability, and supporting engineering teams in delivering software both rapidly and securely. This is a prime opportunity for a seasoned DevOps expert who excels in complex enterprise settings and enjoys tackling large-scale engineering challenges.

Primary Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and oversee scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure primarily on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and reusable modules.
• Develop self-service platform features enabling engineering teams to provision and administer infrastructure efficiently.
• Establish infrastructure standards, governance policies, and automation frameworks across several environments.
• Enhance deployment automation, manage releases, provision environments, and oversee configuration management practices.
• Boost deployment reliability by applying progressive delivery techniques, automated tests, and deployment safety mechanisms.
• Promote GitOps and Infrastructure-as-Code principles within the engineering teams.
• Lead complex production incident resolution and service disruption handling.
• Continuously refine operational processes, runbooks, and platform support routines.
• Champion automation projects that minimize manual intervention and elevate service dependability.
• Detect and implement cloud cost efficiencies while ensuring performance and resilience.
• Mentor junior staff and encourage adoption of DevOps best practices throughout the engineering community.
• Partner with architects, developers, testers, platform groups, and product owners to drive excellence.
• Foster knowledge sharing, provide technical guidance, and support continuous learning within teams.

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum of 10 years proven expertise in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or managing cloud infrastructure.
• Extensive background managing highly available production systems at enterprise scale.
• Proficient and experienced with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
