Role Overview

Joining our high-performance operations division, you will focus on leveraging modern, creative methods to enhance the reliability, scalability, and maintainability of systems used by our customers. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, your responsibilities include creating elegant, maintainable, and highly available solutions while emphasizing experimentation and continuous improvement within an Agile multidisciplinary team. You'll also collaborate with Datacom's global technical specialists.

Note: This role requires working onsite three days a week at Australian offices and remotely two days a week. Applicants must be Australian citizens eligible for NV1 security clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive and uphold operational excellence through automation across various technologies.
• Deploy, configure, and securely harden operating systems.
• Install and manage application middleware platforms.
• Manage deployments on VMware and VMware Cloud on AWS.
• Oversee code deployment and platform lifecycle management.
• Generate reports fulfilling audit and compliance standards.
• Maintain platform availability via reliable operational change and release management.
• Engage with customers through technical collaboration and solution design.

Required Expertise

The ideal candidate will contribute to the team's versatility by offering extensive experience with a mix of open source and VMware automation tools. A thorough understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and expertise in full-stack automation, including CI/CD pipelines, is essential. Your role includes researching, developing, and advocating for platform-neutral technological solutions to reduce manual processes and address technical challenges.

Experience with the following technologies is advantageous but not mandatory; adaptability to similar environments and innovative problem-solving capabilities are valued:

• Operating Systems: Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server
• Configuration Management: git, GitLab CI/CD, Puppet (including Puppet Bolt), Ansible, PowerShell DSC
• Networking & Load Balancing: F5 BIG-IP (including Access Policy Manager), Infoblox DDI, HAProxy
• Monitoring: Prometheus, Alertmanager, Grafana
• Automation & Scripting: RESTful API development, Bash, Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, VMware vRO, Rundeck
• Software Packaging & Deployment: RPM packaging, Chocolatey packaging, container development using Docker/Buildah/Podman, Artifactory
