About Executive AI Studio

Executive AI Studio develops AI-powered operational systems used by Zimbabwean companies in real-world environments, not just prototypes. Their products include WhatsApp agents handling actual customer orders, operational dashboards used by company staff, and advanced data retrieval systems serving industries such as farming, transportation, auctioneering, and media.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain agentic AI systems leveraging the Claude API and other AI services, incorporating capabilities like tool-calling loops, streaming outputs, prompt caching, and managing conversation contexts seamlessly.
• Develop and optimize underlying retrieval mechanisms combining vector similarity and keyword search, while assessing improvements in answer accuracy.
• Independently handle client projects from technical specifications through to delivery, including authoring documents enabling clients to manage the system post-handover.
• Ensure reliable production operation of systems engaging with live customers on WhatsApp, including timely log reviews and troubleshooting live issues.
• Conduct peer code reviews and establish quality standards for team deliverables.

Candidate Requirements

• At least three years of experience building and operating production-grade services in TypeScript on Node.js or Python, working with Node 20/22, Python 3.11, Express, and FastAPI.
• Hands-on experience developing with large language model APIs involving tool/function-calling loops, retrieval systems, or practical AI assistants, including the ability to analyze failures.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases, especially Postgres on Supabase, and managing operational company data consolidation.
• Experience handling unreliable third-party APIs, managing issues such as rate limits, asynchronous writes, and temporary unavailability of returned values, including developing queues or caches to overcome these challenges.
• Knowledge of webhooks and signature verification protocols, along with judgment on handling signature mismatches.
• Strong command of written English for effective communication and client documentation.

Desirable Skills

• In-depth front-end development skills focused on native, framework-free interfaces used daily by clients.
• Understanding of data security obligations under Zimbabwe's Data Protection Act.
• Certifications related to Anthropic's Claude AI.
• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation in production environments, especially hybrid search and reranking strategies.
• Familiarity with the Meta WhatsApp Cloud API and the Model Context Protocol.
• Knowledge of Google OAuth token validation and session security.
• Experience automating browser testing using Puppeteer or similar tools.
• Usage of document platform tools like Coda as an alternative data repository.

Additional Information

A formal computer science degree is not mandatory and is not weighted in the evaluation process. The role does not require machine learning model development or advanced infrastructure expertise such as Kubernetes or Terraform, as infrastructure is maintained on Railway and Vercel platforms.

Compensation

The position offers a net monthly salary ranging from USD 800 to 1500, commensurate with experience.
