This role is based in Singapore within a global team, focusing on safeguarding the firm's network through advanced cyber defense methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and maintain sophisticated detection rules to identify suspicious activities across various telemetry sources including endpoints, networks, identities, and applications.
- Conduct hunts for adversary infrastructure, command-and-control frameworks, phishing setups, and misuse of legitimate services by attackers.
- Translate findings from malware analysis, reverse engineering, and infrastructure hunting into actionable detection strategies and surveillance enhancements.
- Develop Python-based automation to enhance investigative workflows, integrate APIs, enrich security data, and support bespoke detection tools.
- Create and improve tools that facilitate processing large datasets, pattern identification, detection validation, and reduce manual workloads.
- Analyze security telemetry to comprehend attacker behaviors, assess detection effectiveness, and recommend enhancements.
- Collaborate with teams in threat intelligence, incident response, and purple team exercises to elevate detection fidelity and proactive defense mechanisms.
- Lead knowledge sharing and provide mentorship to junior engineers through reviews, documentation, and support.
- Contribute to defining engineering standards for detection development, tooling, testing, and operational procedures.
- Continuously research emerging adversary methods and malware to stay ahead of evolving threat landscapes.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 7 years' hands-on experience in detection engineering, threat hunting, incident response, malware analysis, blue teaming, or related cybersecurity disciplines.
- Comprehensive understanding of cyber adversary tactics, common post-exploitation activities, malware characteristics, command-and-control networks, and security telemetry analysis.
- In-depth expertise in at least one area such as adversary infrastructure hunting, malware reverse engineering, phishing infrastructure analysis, or attacker service abuse.
- Proficient Python development skills capable of producing maintainable code, managing APIs, and automating complex security workflows.
- Practical background in building security automation tools to improve detection efficacy, incident investigation, and operational efficiency.
- Ability to analyze extensive security data sets to identify suspicious behaviors and adversary patterns.
- Strong grasp of detection engineering principles including rule design, tuning, false positive reduction, and lifecycle management.
- Capability to convert technical findings into effective detection logic and surveillance strategies with measurable coverage.
- Excellent communication skills for articulating technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Attributes such as curiosity, analytical thinking, meticulousness, and a drive to scale security solutions.
Additional Valuable Skills
- Experience with adversary emulation, purple/red team collaboration, or threat-informed defense practices.
- Familiarity designing dashboards, data pipelines, enrichment frameworks, or internal security tools.
- Relevant cybersecurity certifications are advantageous.
