Senior Data Scientist

Job Overview

Mphasis is looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join the team at their Canada First Tower location in Calgary, Alberta. This role plays a vital part in facilitating data-driven decisions across the organization by analyzing complex datasets and delivering valuable insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and deploy sophisticated analytical models aimed at resolving business challenges and optimizing operational processes.
• Work closely with various teams to define data requirements and supply insights that bolster strategic projects.
• Apply statistical methods and machine learning algorithms to extract meaning from large-scale data.
• Convey insights and recommendations clearly to stakeholders through detailed reports and presentations.
• Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data from multiple sources by continuous monitoring and enhancement of data integrity.
• Keep abreast of emerging trends and advancements in data science and analytics to integrate best practices.
• Provide mentorship and leadership to junior data professionals, sharing expertise on methodologies and standards.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Comprehensive understanding of data science fundamentals including statistical analysis, machine learning, and data mining.
• Strong programming capabilities in Python or R for analytical and modeling tasks.
• Experience with data visualization platforms like Tableau or Power BI to effectively communicate data findings.
• Proficient in database management and query languages such as SQL.
• Skilled in handling large datasets, including data preprocessing and wrangling techniques.
• Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Expertise

• Knowledge of big data frameworks such as Hadoop and Spark and familiarity with cloud services like AWS or Azure.
• Experience in deploying machine learning models within production environments.
• Understanding of natural language processing techniques.
• Familiarity with business intelligence concepts and tools.
• Strong communication skills aimed at simplifying complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.

Educational Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related disciplines is required; a Master’s degree is favored.
• Proven ability to operate both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic work environment.
• Meticulous attention to detail and dedication to delivering high-quality work.
