Senior Data Engineer

A fast-expanding SaaS scale-up specializing in the E-Commerce domain is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their dynamic team in Berlin. This position offers an exceptional chance to work on cutting-edge data infrastructure and gain involvement in AI-focused projects, as data gains increasing significance in enhancing customer experiences and powering AI-driven functionalities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable and robust data pipelines
• Enhance and maintain the overall data platform infrastructure
• Handle and analyze large, complex datasets
• Contribute to data modelling efforts, ensuring quality and reliability
• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and AI teams
• Provide Data Engineering support for AI and Machine Learning initiatives
• Establish data foundations for applications involving Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), personalization, and intelligent automation
• Influence decisions regarding architecture, tooling, and best engineering practices

Candidate Profile

• Proven Data Engineering experience in commercial settings
• Proficiency in Python and SQL programming
• Hands-on experience with modern cloud data platforms
• Familiarity with platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, or equivalents
• Solid understanding of ETL/ELT workflows, data modelling, and pipeline creation
• Experience using orchestration and transformation tools such as dbt, Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect
• Preferably, background supporting AI/ML projects or familiarity with concepts like LLMs, RAG, vector databases, or embeddings
• Not required to be an ML Engineer, but must have enthusiasm for AI infrastructure development
