Job description
About the Role
Join Snoonu, Qatar's homegrown Super App, as a Senior Data Engineer and engage in building and enhancing our ETL infrastructure. You will work within a diverse ecosystem that includes workflow management, message brokers, data lakes, data warehouses, and infrastructure-as-code technologies. This role offers you the opportunity to improve and scale our data pipelines while playing a critical role in data governance and performance optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate new data sources into the current batch ETL systems.
- Develop new real-time data pipelines leveraging infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
- Assist teams in extracting data from the warehouse and support Reverse ETL processes.
- Contribute to the enhancement of data management workflows by offering feedback and innovative solutions.
- Automate workflows and optimize pipeline performance continuously.
- Lead long-term improvement projects including refactoring, cost-efficiency analyses, and implementing best practices.
What We Believe You Bring
- Strong programming expertise with experience in various languages or Python frameworks.
- Understanding of software design principles and patterns.
- Background in designing data systems or familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, including message brokers, object storage, and query engines.
- Proficient SQL skills using advanced querying techniques like subqueries, window functions, and common table expressions.
- Experience with data warehouse architecture or ETL pipeline design.
- Knowledge in distributed systems, particularly PySpark or similar technologies, focused on performance and scalability.
- Skills in infrastructure as code, for example AWS CloudFormation.
- Ability or prior experience working with the Databricks platform.
