XYZ Reality is an acclaimed Series-A stage start-up focused on revolutionizing the construction industry. We operate as a multi-disciplinary, dynamic team working across cloud development, data governance, embedded software/hardware, mechanical design and manufacturing, AI, computer vision, and data science—all contributing to our Building Information Modeling (BIM) platform's expansion, enhancement, and scalability.
Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Data Engineer proficient in data modelling, database management, and pipeline construction. This role entails collaborating closely with API/back-end developers and the data pipeline team to deliver high-performance, scalable solutions supporting our technology stack and new feature development.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain data pipelines built on Dagster using Python.
- Construct and implement efficient data models aligned with application and product requirements.
- Author SQL queries and stored procedures for data pipelines and APIs.
- Identify bugs, maintain, and enhance current codebases.
- Develop and run unit and integration tests for software reliability assurance.
- Conduct performance profiling and stress tests to optimize system responsiveness and efficiency.
- Produce clear documentation for data models, ETL/ELT pipelines, and related code.
- Engage with cross-functional teams such as client app and cloud teams to ensure cohesive development workflows.
- Remain versatile and participate in adopting new technologies and technical areas as necessary.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience in database and pipeline engineering.
- Proficient with code-driven orchestration tools, preferably Dagster or Airflow.
- Strong background in relational database systems, especially PostgreSQL, and SQL query development.
- Expertise in Python programming with strong object-oriented design skills.
- Experience in designing data models for transactional and analytic systems.
- Advanced debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning capabilities.
- Familiarity with Git, including active participation in code reviews.
- Excellent communication and collaborative abilities.
- Motivated to develop proprietary tech stacks as well as integrate commercial off-the-shelf software solutions.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CI/CD workflows using tools like GitHub Actions and Liquibase.
- Knowledge of API architectures such as REST and GraphQL.
- Comfortable working in Linux environments.
- Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experienced with Test-Driven Development methodologies, PyTest, and software design patterns.
