Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned cybersecurity expert capable of transforming complex security issues into clear, actionable solutions. As a Senior Cybersecurity Consultant, you will lead impactful projects across prominent New Zealand organisations, working autonomously while building trust rapidly and combining strategic insight with strong technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive consulting projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
- Create and communicate customised cybersecurity strategies and roadmaps aligned with each client’s risk tolerance and maturity level.
- Design governance frameworks that are pragmatic, maintainable, and tailored to client needs.
- Perform comprehensive cybersecurity evaluations and audits spanning various sectors.
- Oversee risk management at both organisational and system levels, helping clients prioritise critical risks.
- Develop and validate security programs including system assurance, third-party/vendor assurance, incident response, and awareness initiatives.
- Formulate and implement effective policies and compliance measures that work in practical settings.
- Engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels through workshops, written communication, and personal interactions.
- Support and mentor colleagues by sharing expertise and practical guidance throughout engagements.
Required Expertise
- Broad cybersecurity experience encompassing governance, risk, technology, and operational areas.
- Proven consultancy skills with an ability to independently manage multiple priorities and build client confidence from the outset.
- In-depth knowledge of prominent frameworks such as NIST CSFv2, NIST SP800-53, ISO 27001/27002/27005, IEC 62443, PCI-DSS, SOC2 Type I/II, and ASD Essential 8.
- Familiarity with regional standards including NZ PSR, NCSC Minimum Cyber Security Standards, HISO 10029/HISF, NZ ISM, AU ISM, and the NZ Privacy Act 2020.
- Direct PCI-DSS experience including scoping, SAQ determination, and managing issuer/processor/acquirer relationships.
- Strong ability to explain how security controls mitigate threats, vulnerabilities, and business risks.

- Keen awareness of emerging cyber threats and relevant developments affecting New Zealand organisations.
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary degree or professional background in cybersecurity or related fields.
- Preferred certifications include ISO 27001 Lead Implementor/Auditor, CISM, and CRISC.
