Role Overview

As a Senior Application Security (AppSec) Cybersecurity Consultant at Datacom, you will join New Zealand's largest cybersecurity and connectivity services company. This role places you in a dedicated team that prides itself on delivering top-tier consultancy, advice, and guidance to clients. You will be responsible for the performance, productivity, growth, and sustainability of the cybersecurity personnel, especially within the Application Security division. This is a position for someone who champions secure application development and has a deep and broad understanding of Application Security alongside the ability to adapt to evolving market needs. The position is based in New Zealand with a preference for Datacom office locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive innovation, improved service delivery, and promote future sustainability within the business.
• Work collaboratively across internal teams, business units, and with customers.
• Manage vendor relationships supporting Cybersecurity Technical service offerings across Consulting and Operational teams, fostering a culture of excellence.
• Lead the planning, development, and execution of Datacom's Application Security services and offerings.
• Maintain a passion for application cybersecurity, emerging technologies, business transformation, and solving customer challenges.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Possess advanced knowledge of cybersecurity technologies and be able to communicate effectively with a wide customer base.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and developing cybersecurity teams either directly or indirectly.
• Previous experience working in outcome-driven, service, and delivery-focused organizations.
• Hold relevant technical cybersecurity professional qualifications.
• Practical experience with DevSecOps and established best practices in Application Security, including OWASP principles.
• A strong personal interest in all aspects related to application security, potentially having backgrounds as penetration testers, developers, or security consultants seeking advancement in AppSec.
• Preferably have at least 7+ years in cybersecurity with over 5 years specifically in application security roles.
• Experience presenting at industry conferences and/or holding industry-recognized certifications is desirable.
