About the Role
Join Westpac's Cyber Detect & Respond team as a Senior Cyber Security Analyst, where protecting more than systems means safeguarding customer trust. This pivotal role involves tackling intricate cyber challenges, responding swiftly to threats, and mentoring fellow analysts. You'll be instrumental in reinforcing the organization's cyber resilience by leading incident responses, refining detection capabilities, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead thorough investigations and coordinate responses to advanced cyber security incidents, ensuring effective containment, elimination, and recovery.
- Offer expert leadership and mentorship to analysts, fostering growth and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Continuously monitor, analyze, and assess security events to promptly detect and address potential cyber threats.
- Enhance security operations by improving detection strategies, refining alert mechanisms, and optimizing response workflows.
- Collaborate closely with Cyber, Engineering, and Technology departments to bolster security controls and readiness.
- Engage in threat hunting, automate security processes, and drive ongoing enhancements.
- Promote a high-performing, collaborative, and inclusive team environment.
- Participate actively in a shared on-call schedule to support incident responses as needed.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in cyber security disciplines such as security operations, incident handling, engineering, or penetration testing.
- Comprehensive technical expertise in cyber security principles, networking, cloud infrastructures, and contemporary technology ecosystems.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing security investigations and incident response efforts.
- Analytical and curious mindset with strong pattern recognition and problem-solving capabilities.
- Hands-on familiarity with security tools including SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, or equivalent technologies.
- Effective communication skills, able to convey technical ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
- Collaborative nature with a commitment to coaching and developing team members.
- Relevant industry certifications (GIAC, CompTIA, CISSP, etc.) are beneficial but not mandatory.
