Senior Cost Manager Data Centres - Europe

About the Role

Join Cumming Group's European team as a Senior Cost Manager specializing in data centre projects. You will provide expert cost consultancy throughout the lifecycle of construction projects, ranging from initial concept design through to completion. Responsibilities include delivering accurate cost estimates, procurement guidance, contract administration, and mentoring junior staff. Your role can involve working independently or leading teams depending on project scale.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and interpret cost estimates for all phases of design and construction projects.
• Advise on procurement strategies and analyze contractor tenders with recommendations.
• Manage client accounts, attend critical meetings, and contribute strategic insights.
• Review contracts and engage in contract negotiation processes.
• Assess change orders and contractor pricing throughout projects.
• Administer contracts and support cost controls during construction phases.
• Provide continuous cost management services including value engineering and cashflow forecasting.
• Develop project plans, fee proposals, and resourcing strategies.
• Support upper management with client reports, performance metrics, and commercial advice.
• Mentor junior cost consultants and commercial managers.
• Represent the firm at industry events, focusing on business development and networking.

Requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction, Engineering, or related discipline.
• At least five years' experience in cost consultancy or quantity surveying preferably within a professional services setting.
• Relevant professional accreditation such as MRICS, AssocRICS, or equivalent, or actively pursuing chartered status.
• Good understanding of construction technology, local procurement, tendering procedures, and Irish standard contracts (RIAI, GCCC).
• Knowledge of construction law, tax, insurance, and delivery methods specific to the Irish market.
• Strong commercial insight and history of delivering projects across various sectors.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to cultivate solid client relationships.
• Able to effectively prioritize and perform under pressure in a rapidly changing environment.
