Senior Cloud Systems Administrator

Role Overview

We seek a seasoned Senior Cloud Systems Administrator to architect, operate, and support cloud and network infrastructures across varied client settings. This position ensures system availability, security, and optimal performance while fulfilling SLA requirements and providing advanced technical support for both internal teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and/or GCP, covering compute, storage, networks, identity, and security components.
• Oversee network infrastructures involving TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, BGP, OSPF, VPNs, firewall setups, and routing configurations.
• Manage hybrid cloud connectivity solutions such as site-to-site VPNs, Direct Connect, and ExpressRoute.
• Drive automation in infrastructure deployment leveraging tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates, and Ansible.
• Implement and sustain Identity Access Management (IAM) and Privileged Access Management (PAM) frameworks.
• Monitor infrastructure status including availability, capacity, and performance, resolving issues within set SLAs.
• Administer data backup, disaster recovery, and ensure business continuity plans are in place.
• Support cloud security and regulatory compliance aligned with standards like ISO 27001, SOC 2, and PCI-DSS.
• Optimize cloud infrastructure costs and performance to enhance efficiency.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and manage container orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Engage in client onboarding, infrastructure audits, and cloud migration initiatives.
• Handle incidents and service requests via PSA, RMM, or ITSM platforms including ConnectWise, Autotask, Kaseya, or ServiceNow.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, network diagrams, and operational runbooks.
• Interface directly with clients, acting as a senior escalation and technical liaison.
• Provide mentorship to junior administrators and participate in on-call rotations as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Over 7 years of experience in cloud infrastructure management, systems administration, or infrastructure engineering roles.
• Proficient hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and/or GCP; multi-cloud expertise is considered advantageous.
• Networking expertise validated by CCNA certification or comparable experience.
• In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and configurations including TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting/CIDR, NAT, VPNs, firewalls, OSPF, and BGP.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates, or Ansible is essential.
• Familiarity with IAM and PAM technologies, for example CyberArk, BeyondTrust, or HashiCorp Vault.
• Skills in scripting and automation utilizing Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell.
• Hands-on knowledge of containerization, Kubernetes, CI/CD processes, and monitoring solutions.
• Experience working with PSA, RMM, or ITSM/ticketing systems is required.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and adeptness in managing numerous client environments with SLA adherence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Advanced networking certifications such as CCNP or higher.
• Previous work experience within managed service providers (MSP), IT service companies or consultancy firms.
• Expertise in cloud migration projects, regulated sectors, and cost optimization strategies.
• Excellent client communication skills paired with experience mentoring junior staff.
