Job description
Company Overview
Analog is at the forefront of physical intelligence, transforming how cities, industries, and services interact with the real world through continuously evolving living world models. Their core innovation, Ana, the Analog Neural Agent, turns data into actionable insights that enhance safety, performance, and user experiences across diverse sectors.
Role Summary
We are looking for a proficient Senior Character Rigger focused on the hands-on creation of animator-friendly rigs within Autodesk Maya for real-time 3D and AR/VR applications. This role is purely rigging-centric, excluding hybrid technical artist or animation system duties, and emphasizes active engagement in rig construction, debugging, and deployment in production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality character and creature rigs in Autodesk Maya.
- Manage skeleton setup, skinning processes, deformation techniques, constraints, and corrective measures.
- Generate clean, stable control rigs optimized for performance and ease of use by animators.
- Collaborate closely with animation teams to enhance expressive and efficient animation pipelines.
- Ensure rigs comply with real-time engine requirements, particularly for Unity and Unreal, working alongside technical staff.
- Debug and refine rigs in response to animation and runtime evaluations.
- Maintain and upgrade existing rigs without lowering standards or consistency.
Role Limitations
- This position does not cover technical artist or tools development responsibilities.
- It is not a solely supervisory or lead role without hands-on rigging involvement.
- The role is not primarily focused on animation tasks nor based on Blender or 3ds Max rigging platforms.
Required Qualifications
- Mastery of Autodesk Maya rigging is mandatory.
- Minimum of five years’ professional experience in character or creature rigging.
- Demonstrated track record with real-time 3D projects such as AAA games, AR/VR, or comparable interactive platforms.
- In-depth understanding of anatomy, deformation, skinning, and corrective rigging techniques.
- Sound knowledge of animation principles like timing, weight, and staging to support animators effectively.
- Experience with rigging workflows in Unity or Unreal engine environments.
- Capacity for autonomous work, ownership, and delivery of production-quality rigs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate rigging concepts and decisions clearly.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with cloth, hair, or secondary motion rig setups in Maya or within real-time engines.
- Familiarity with motion capture systems and basic mocap data cleanup.
- Knowledge of character modeling and texture creation pipelines.
Portfolio Expectations
- Submission must include examples of multiple fully realized character or creature rigs.
- Clear demonstration of the applicant’s individual, hands-on role in rig construction.
- Evidence showcasing deformation quality, control rig design, and usability for animators.
Candidate Presentation
Applicants should be prepared to thoroughly explain their rigs, detailing the construction approach and design rationale.
Working Benefits at Analog
- A culture promoting collaboration, global perspective, and a shared mission to amplify human potential through technology.
- The chance to contribute to projects with significant local and international impact including urban adaptation, resilient infrastructure, and innovative sectors like healthcare and entertainment.
- Exceptional opportunities for professional growth, learning, and cross-disciplinary collaboration with experts in AI, robotics, mixed reality, and system engineering.
- A competitive salary package including healthcare, educational support, and generous leave entitlements aligned with valuing employees and their families.
