Senior Business Analyst - Data & Integration

Overview

We seek an experienced Senior Business Analyst specializing in data-focused projects such as data integration, data warehousing, and enterprise technology transformations. This role involves interpreting complex business operations, analyzing data flows, and creating detailed functional requirements to guide technical teams, ensuring data solutions align with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and technology teams to collect, analyze, and verify business requirements.
• Lead workshops, interviews, and sessions to explore business processes, reporting needs, data interdependencies, and operational requirements.
• Create comprehensive documentation including business requirements, functional specs, business rules, process maps, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Examine current business processes, data workflows, applications, and integration models to understand existing functionality.
• Detail source and target systems, data inputs/outputs, transformation principles, processing schedules, and downstream systems.
• Conduct impact analyses to evaluate operational and business effects of system or process changes.
• Partner with technical teams to identify dependencies like databases, ETL processes, external vendor feeds, internal extracts, datasets, and reporting pipelines.
• Develop and maintain artifacts such as source-to-target data mappings, data dictionaries, business glossaries, and traceability matrices.
• Convert business rules and reporting needs into clear functional requirements for developers and architects.
• Work alongside data engineers and developers to confirm that solutions meet approved requirements.
• Spot opportunities to streamline processes, consolidate data workflows, boost data quality, and improve operational efficiency.
• Specify data validation rules, expected results, control totals, reconciliation procedures, and acceptance criteria with stakeholders.
• Support test planning and execution phases, including integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.
• Coordinate business-side data validation and collaborate with technical teams to resolve inconsistencies.
• Log defects, evaluate their business impact, prioritize issues, and oversee the resolution lifecycle.
• Ensure traceability of requirements throughout design, development, testing, and deployment stages.
• Manage stakeholder reviews, sign-offs, business approvals, and prepare for operational readiness.
• Maintain records like business process documents, decision logs, risk registers, and meeting notes.
• Facilitate change management, knowledge transfer, and smooth transition of processes to business and operational teams.
• Communicate project updates, business impacts, dependencies, and pending decisions efficiently to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Over 7 years of professional experience in business analysis focused on data integration, data warehousing, data migration, reporting, or enterprise technology projects.
• Strong skills in gathering requirements, leading stakeholder interviews, facilitating workshops, and analyzing business processes.
• Proven capability to document detailed business needs, functional specifications, process flows, business rules, and acceptance standards.
• Understanding of relational database concepts, data warehousing, ETL/ELT workflows, and enterprise data integration principles.
• Experience handling source-to-target mappings, data dictionaries, flow documentation, and requirements traceability.
• Ability to analyze data dependencies, evaluate business impacts of changes, and manage critical data flows.
• Skilled in supporting data quality checks, reconciliation processes, and testing including user acceptance testing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude to investigate discrepancies and clarify complex rules.
• Experience coordinating across development, architecture, QA, business users, and operations teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and requirement or project tracking software.
• Excellent documentation, communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Ability to manage multiple simultaneous requirements and workstreams with thorough traceability and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SAS, SAS Data Integration Studio, Informatica IDMC, Snowflake, or similar data integration platforms.
• Practical use of SQL for data investigation, validation, and reconciling discrepancies.
• Background in data warehouse updates, legacy system modernization, or migration programs.
• Understanding vendor feed mechanisms, file transfers, internal data extracts, business reporting, and regulatory compliance data needs.
• Prior involvement in banking, financial services, or regulated sectors.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, or comparable tools for requirements and delivery management.
• Experience applying Agile or hybrid project delivery approaches.
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks, lineage tracking, metadata management, data quality standards, and data stewardship.
• Proven ability to support operational readiness activities, continuous process improvements, and change management.
• Relevant business analysis certifications considered a plus.
