Senior Building Surveyor

About the Role

Join a leading architectural, compliance, and building firm in Western Australia specializing in commercial and industrial building design and construction. This opportunity is ideal for registered building surveyors or those nearing qualification, working alongside a skilled team in Perth.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage building projects across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.
• Conduct assessments for compliance with the Building Code of Australia (NCC).
• Perform site inspections and generate detailed reports.
• Collaborate closely with architects, builders, consultants, and other stakeholders.
• Develop practical skills through mentoring and hands-on experience.
• Advise on BCA/NCC regulations and propose alternative compliance solutions.
• Support design and construction teams with regulatory guidance throughout project stages.
• Liaise effectively with clients, local councils, and contractors.
• Prepare and manage documentation necessary for permits and approvals.
• Visit project sites 1 to 2 times monthly and engage directly with clients.
• Coordinate efforts within a multidisciplinary team including an Environmental Sustainable Design (ESD) consultant.

Requirements

• Current registration with the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors (AIBS) or eligibility to register within six months.
• Relevant degree in Building Surveying or nearing completion.
• Strong knowledge of Western Australian building codes and regulations.
• Excellent communication and ability to engage multiple stakeholders effectively.
• Preferably experience in commercial and industrial building projects.
• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Valid driving license is essential.
• Attention to detail, motivation, and positive attitude.
