Senior Bid Manager

About the Role

An established and expanding civil engineering and infrastructure company based in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, is seeking a Senior Bid Manager. This pivotal role reports directly to the Contract Director and is designed for a candidate who can take full ownership of the tendering process as the company grows. The position involves leading tenders end-to-end while collaborating closely with commercial, technical, and operational teams to produce competitive and compelling submissions.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the complete preparation and submission process of major tender opportunities from initial evaluation to final delivery.
• Evaluate new project opportunities to inform bid or no-bid decisions strategically.
• Coordinate inputs from commercial, engineering, estimating, and operations teams to compile submissions.
• Create clear, persuasive, and commercially advantageous tender proposals.
• Review contract documents, technical specifications, pricing data, and client requirements carefully.
• Manage tender schedules to ensure timely and accurate submission adherence.
• Maintain ongoing communication with clients, consultants, and internal parties throughout the bidding process.
• Participate actively in pricing strategies, commercial reviews, risk analysis, and value engineering.
• Ensure that tender submissions meet all public procurement regulations.
• Support continuous enhancement of bid procedures, tools, and templates.
• Contribute to developing and expanding the current bid team as the function grows.
• Keep abreast of trends and developments in the infrastructure and water/wastewater sectors.

Candidate Requirements

• Extensive experience in bid management, estimating, pre-construction, or tendering within civil engineering or infrastructure sectors.
• Proven background working on public sector infrastructure projects.
• Specialized knowledge of water and wastewater treatment projects, utilities, or related infrastructure areas.
• Demonstrated ability managing complex tenders from initial opportunity to submission stage.
• Experience in the Irish and/or UK infrastructure markets is essential.
• Strong skills in managing multiple stakeholders and competing deadlines efficiently.
• Excellent commercial acumen coupled with high attention to detail.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication capabilities.
• Experience leading, mentoring, or developing teams is highly valued.
