Overview
This position is for a Senior Backend/Fullstack Engineer role at Joinkyber, a pre-seed aviation technology startup aiming to revolutionize airport ground operations through AI. The company is focused on eliminating the $15 billion annual loss caused by controllable ground delays by creating an intelligent orchestration layer for airport operations.
Role and Responsibilities
You will be responsible for developing an advanced decision-making engine that optimizes airport turnaround times in real-time. This involves replacing manual methods like spreadsheets and radios with an AI-powered orchestration system that coordinates tasks, staff, and equipment efficiently. You will take ownership of the full stack—from managing diverse and complex input signals to building deterministic state machines—to ensure highly reliable infrastructure for major aviation hubs worldwide.
- Design and implement real-time data processing pipelines that unify inconsistent operational signals into a trustworthy source of truth for airport ground staff and airlines.
- Develop conflict detection mechanisms and state machines to handle intricate dependencies between personnel, equipment, and gate assignments while meeting strict latency requirements.
- Manage infrastructure-as-code and lead DevOps efforts to maintain uninterrupted, production-grade systems where any downtime results in missed flights.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum three years of experience creating production backend systems in fast-paced startup environments, with advanced skills in TypeScript and Python.
- Expertise in event-driven architecture, scheduling algorithms, or workflow engine design emphasizing system determinism and accuracy.
- A strong builder mindset accompanied by practical DevOps knowledge including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and system observability in cloud-native environments.
