Role Summary

This role as a Backend Engineer is crucial for powering Holafly's global connectivity platform. Responsibilities include building scalable, high-performance APIs that support millions of users worldwide, focusing on reliability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance vital microservices utilizing Python, Django, and Django REST Framework.
• Implement and maintain rigorous unit testing strategies with Pytest and integrate automated quality checks to uphold superior code standards.
• Design and build scalable APIs capable of managing high traffic loads during peak travel periods.
• Address technical debt by optimizing performance, resolving N+1 database query problems, and improving asynchronous task workflows.
• Work closely with international Product and QA teams to convert intricate business requirements into maintainable technical solutions.
• Promote software development best practices including design patterns, documentation, and comprehensive code reviews.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in backend development specializing in Django and Django REST Framework.
• Strong background in unit testing and building quality-first development frameworks.
• Demonstrated expertise in microservices architecture design and integration with complex external third-party systems.
• Proficiency with asynchronous programming and efficient handling of high-load database queries.
• Candidates must be located in Ireland or willing to relocate with a valid work visa, as visa sponsorship or relocation aid is not provided.

Preferred Skills

• Conversational or professional proficiency in Spanish is advantageous.
• Experience with performance profiling tools such as Silk is desirable.
