We're seeking a Senior Associate Systems Engineer to strengthen our Systems Engineering & Systems Assurance (SESA) team across New Zealand and the ANZ region.

This position goes beyond traditional systems engineering, requiring a technically proficient systems thinker capable of combining exceptional delivery skills with strategic consulting, client engagement, and business development. You will work closely with the ANZ SESA team to assist both internal and external clients in solving complex problems, shaping future opportunities, and expanding Jacobs' footprint in sectors such as transportation, defense, aviation, water, ports, and critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering practices throughout entire project lifecycles.
• Advise clients strategically on requirements management, system architecture, integration, interface control, verification, and validation.
• Build trusted relationships with key clients in New Zealand, acting as a principal advisor for complex systems challenges.
• Identify and nurture opportunities aligned with client goals and business expansion.
• Contribute actively to pursuits, proposals, and business development across multiple sectors.
• Help define and implement enterprise-wide systems engineering frameworks and governance.
• Mentor and support the growth of emerging systems engineering professionals.
• Promote best practice systems engineering aligned with standards like INCOSE and ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288.
• Support continued growth and diversification of Jacobs’ SESA capabilities in ANZ.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Substantial experience applying systems engineering in complex infrastructure, transport, defence, or critical asset contexts.
• Proven skills in requirements management, systems architecture, interface management, integration, and verification & validation.
• Confidence engaging and influencing senior client stakeholders.
• Proven track record in identifying business opportunities and supporting growth initiatives.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality results.
• Strong commercial insight with an understanding of client priorities.
• Excellent communication skills including technical writing and proposal creation.
• Experience using Requirements Management tools or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) platforms.
