Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Associate to join our Economic Advisory practice in Berlin, Germany. This position involves guiding clients through intricate competition, regulatory, and commercial disputes by employing thorough economic and econometric analyses to tackle real business issues effectively.
Responsibilities
- Take lead roles in project workstreams and significantly contribute to competition, regulatory, and dispute-related client projects.
- Perform and supervise qualitative, quantitative, statistical, and econometric analyses utilizing advanced analytical tools and software.
- Develop strong empirical and theoretical frameworks to address multifaceted economic questions.
- Conduct reviews of economic literature, regulations, case law, and market data to bolster client engagements.
- Prepare and refine presentations, reports, expert testimonies, and other deliverables for clients.
- Assist in strategy development and economic argument construction for cases.
- Engage in client meetings, telephone conferences, and dialogues with competition authorities, regulatory bodies, and legal teams.
- Oversee project planning, coordination, and execution across several assignments.
- Provide mentorship and support for junior colleagues to foster their professional growth.
- Ensure all analytical output and project deliverables meet high standards of accuracy and quality.
Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related quantitative discipline.
- Between 3 to 6 years of experience in economic consulting, competition or regulatory economics, or related analytical sectors.
- Expert analytical and problem-solving skills with the capability to apply economic theories to complex practical scenarios.
- Demonstrated proficiency with statistical and econometric software such as Stata, R, Python, or similar programs.
- Strong grasp of economic issues related to competition, regulation, and litigation.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, to convey complicated concepts clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Attention to detail and a strong dedication to delivering exemplary work quality.
- The ability to work autonomously while also collaborating well within project teams.
- Experience in mentoring and supporting junior staff.
- Professional proficiency in both English and German languages.
- Additional beneficial skills include expertise in energy economics, knowledge of French, and familiarity with Mathematica and other advanced analytic software.
