Senior Android Developer

Overview

Expleo Group seeks an experienced Senior Android Developer to lead the creation of secure, scalable, and high-performance Android applications as part of a modernization initiative. This Dublin-based role involves working onsite five days a week, providing an opportunity to operate across the full software development lifecycle within cross-functional teams including QA, product, and program management.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Android applications employing modern architectural patterns and best practices, utilizing Java and Kotlin.
• Drive architectural decisions emphasizing scalability, maintainability, and security.
• Integrate Android apps with external services, SDKs, and platform features such as hardware access, secure storage, and networking.
• Enforce secure coding standards and contribute to compliance in regulated environments.
• Support quality assurance through unit and integration testing, and address defects effectively.
• Participate in code reviews and audit remediation processes.
• Lead migration and refactoring efforts to modernize legacy Android codebases, promoting modularization and component reuse.
• Optimize app performance metrics including responsiveness, memory consumption, and startup speed.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and diagnostic features to aid production support and incident analysis.
• Contribute to automation in build, test, and deployment pipelines, supporting CI/CD practices.
• Collaborate closely with QA, product owners, delivery managers, and developers to meet delivery goals and share knowledge through mentoring.
• Assist in post-release reviews and root cause analysis of defects and incidents.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Demonstrated client-facing and people management skills to foster team learning, mentoring, and knowledge transfer.
• Strong teamwork, emotional intelligence, and self-management capabilities.
• Innovative mindset balancing creativity with vigilance, valuing openness and transparency.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Android development in Java and Kotlin.
• Familiarity with modern Android tooling, architectures, and build systems including Android Studio, Gradle, and Git.
• Experience with secure app development principles and regulated domain application desirable.
• Proficiency in implementing automated testing and CI/CD pipelines; familiarity with Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps is a plus.
• Competent in debugging physical device issues and interpreting complex application logs.
• Experience in regulated sectors such as financial services or fintech beneficial but not mandatory.
