Job description
Position Overview
This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership, develop capabilities, and contribute meaningfully to reducing alcohol-related harm within New Zealand. The role is based in Wellington, full-time, and permanent. Salary midpoint is $108,452, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice and leadership on complex, high-profile projects influencing strategic decisions.
- Collaborate with various teams and agencies to implement key initiatives effectively.
- Deliver well-structured advice, analysis, and recommendations to support strategy and programme execution.
- Lead and coordinate projects ensuring well-planned, collaborative, and outcome-oriented delivery.
- Support monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and assurance for programme performance.
- Create high-quality materials such as briefings, reports, presentations, and guidance tailored for diverse audiences.
- Facilitate governance and inter-agency coordination through secretariat functions, stakeholder engagement, and follow-up on critical actions.
- Contribute to developing, publishing, and disseminating key public-facing resources, including guidelines and annual reports.
Required Skills and Experience
- Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience demonstrating understanding of government, public sector, or complex organisational environments.
- In-depth knowledge of government machinery, public sector procedures, Ministerial servicing, and collaborative cross-agency practices.
- Proven ability to develop high-quality written, visual, and digital outputs like reports and presentations targeted at varied audiences.
- Strong project management and leadership skills with a track record of coordinating complex programmes and balancing multiple priorities.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and relationship management capabilities, enabling clear advice and effective teamwork.
- Experience overseeing publication quality assurance, governance, or related organisational procedures.
- Ability to translate evidence-based research and technical data into practical advice and recommendations to support decision-making.
- Demonstrated political awareness, sound judgement, and capacity to navigate sensitive issues while understanding wider systemic impacts.
