About the Role
Join the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) as a Senior Adviser within the Perimeter & Response team, where you will engage in significant regulatory responsibilities safeguarding New Zealand’s financial services sector. Your role supports the overarching mission of ensuring fair and transparent markets, embodying the values of forward thinking, teamwork, decisive action, and openness.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex investigations into alleged misconduct and regulatory breaches involving both licensed and unlicensed entities.
- Critically analyze collected data to identify risks and potential harm, forming sound, evidence-based recommendations for appropriate regulatory interventions.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional FMA teams to implement regulatory actions.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, recommendations, and documentation for senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Provide specialized expertise on challenging cases and assist with investigative and enforcement activities as needed.
- Contribute to the development and mentoring of team members, promoting continuous process improvements.
What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience in regulatory, legal, audit, investigation, compliance, risk management, or financial services sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex information, exercise sound judgment, and present well-founded recommendations.
- Proven track record managing inquiries or assessments with competing demands and ambiguous circumstances.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and effective communication capabilities, both written and verbal.
- Ability to foster trusted partnerships and operate collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Resilience, self-discipline, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results under pressure.

Additional Information
Salary range for this role is NZD 120,000 to NZD 140,000 plus 4% KiwiSaver and other benefits. Final remuneration packages will be determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity considerations. The recruitment process upholds principles of pay equity and transparency.
