About the Role

Join the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) as an Adviser within the Intensive Supervision team, playing a vital role in overseeing entities that require specialized regulatory attention due to their complexity, novelty, or associated risks. This meaningful position involves working collaboratively in a results-driven environment to support fair consumer outcomes and bolster confidence in New Zealand's financial markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement tailored Intensive Supervision plans aimed at achieving impactful regulatory results.
  • Engage proactively with regulated entities to set expectations, monitor progress, and facilitate effective regulatory outcomes.
  • Analyze complex regulatory issues and risks, contributing to well-founded regulatory decisions.
  • Collaborate across the FMA to ensure coordinated regulatory responses and handle case management effectively.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the Intensive Supervision function and its processes.
  • Develop and sustain productive relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders to advance FMA's objectives.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an inquisitive and driven professional comfortable navigating complex issues to deliver significant regulatory outcomes. You will excel in analyzing detailed information, applying sound judgment, and forming positive relationships with diverse stakeholders. A collaborative mindset and confidence in managing ambiguity are essential, alongside eagerness to grow expertise in regulatory frameworks. Prior experience analyzing complex data and operating within regulatory or risk-based environments is advantageous.

Compensation and Application

The role’s salary range is $95,000 to $105,000 annually, plus 4% KiwiSaver and the benefits described above. Final compensation will consider experience, skills, and internal equity. The FMA is committed to pay equity, fairness, and transparency throughout recruitment.
