Role Overview

The Senior AdTech Engineer will play a pivotal role in evolving our proprietary programmatic advertising platform, currently in its third live iteration. This position heavily leans towards backend engineering with approximately an 80/20 backend to frontend ratio. You'll independently manage critical platform components while collaborating closely with a data scientist and leading engineering efforts together with the CTO.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and scale backend systems that power a low-latency, high-throughput programmatic advertising platform, processing ad requests in milliseconds.
• Create proprietary AI agents for programmatic media buying and distribution, collaborating closely with data scientists on ad content tagging and enrichment.
• Integrate the platform with third-party AdTech APIs and frameworks including OpenRTB, DSPs, and SSPs.
• Provide senior engineering leadership through code reviews, peer mentoring, and guiding junior engineers without direct line management responsibilities.
• Ownership of critical feature areas with close cooperation between engineering and data science teams.
• Apply architectural insight and rigor in a real-time bidding context where timing and accuracy are paramount.
• Drive the integration of autonomous, agent-based processes into the platform ecosystem.
• Maintain best practices such as GitOps deployment techniques and a strict code review culture.
• Adopt a problem-solving mindset to develop proprietary technologies beyond fulfilling standard specifications.
• Ensure ongoing, careful enhancement of a live, performance-sensitive platform while preserving existing functionalities.
• Lead the complete lifecycle for services or components including design and delivery.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Over 5 years of advanced backend development proficiency with Node.js.
• At least 3 years designing and maintaining low-latency, high-throughput systems capable of millisecond response times, preferably in domains such as fintech, trading, payments, banking, real-time gaming, or betting platforms.
• Minimum 1 year hands-on experience developing production AI agents, including working with large language models in collaboration with data scientists, specifically building rather than just utilizing AI tools.
• More than 5 years of building APIs and third-party system integrations.
• At least 2 years experience performing and overseeing code and peer reviews, mentoring engineers, or providing synonymous senior individual contributor guidance.
• 3+ years of TypeScript expertise, with strong modern JavaScript experience as an acceptable alternative.
• Minimum 2 years working with React framework.
• 2+ years professional experience using Google Cloud Platform (or alternatives such as AWS or Azure).
• At least 2 years working with Kubernetes and Argo CD GitOps workflows; substitutes include Flux or Helm.
• Proven senior engineer or architect level skills including technical leadership and close cooperation with CTO.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with programmatic advertising concepts including OpenRTB, real-time bidding, DSPs and SSPs (2+ years preferred). Exceptional engineers with related systems experience will be considered even without domain-specific terminology knowledge.
• Experience leading project design and complete delivery of services or components.
• Basic knowledge in Go programming language, or alternatively Rust, Java, or C++ for performance-critical applications.
• 1+ year experience with Jenkins or alternative CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
• 1+ year experience using monitoring tools like Grafana, with alternatives including Prometheus, Datadog, or New Relic.
