Job Overview
The Senior Accountant role involves overseeing and evaluating financial data, ensuring meticulous maintenance of accounting records, and preparing various financial documents including reports, reconciliations, budgets, and forecasts. This position supports month-end closing procedures while upholding accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls, delivering precise financial information to management.
Primary Duties
- Handle general and cost accounting tasks, including journal entries, ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and classifications.
- Compile financial statements, trial balances, management information system (MIS) reports, and necessary supporting schedules.
- Assist with closing activities on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Conduct reconciliations for bank accounts, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, inventory, and other accounts.
- Develop budgets, forecasts, and perform variance analysis.
- Examine financial data relating to costs, expenses, and market trends to aid managerial decisions.
- Guarantee precise recording of transactions, secure proper authorization, and ensure adherence to internal policies.
- Maintain comprehensive accounting records, fixed asset registers, and related documentation.
- Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing schedules and making necessary adjustments.
- Enhance accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and improve financial reporting quality.
- Ensure efficient usage of ERP/accounting software, ideally SAP.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as directed by the Finance Manager.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, including GAAP, financial reporting standards, and internal control mechanisms.
- Proficient in reconciliation processes, financial closing, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Experience with ERP/accounting platforms, preferably SAP.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and financial report generation.
- Excellent analytical, communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
Experience
At least five years of professional accounting experience, with a minimum of three years in relevant roles; experience within the GCC region is considered advantageous.
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, or their equivalent are preferred.
