Job description

Position Overview

The Security Officer is responsible for monitoring and safeguarding all areas of the property, assisting guests with room access, and ensuring the safety of guests and employees through proactive patrols and response activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct patrols across all property zones to maintain security and safety standards.
  • Assist guests in accessing rooms and facilities.
  • Monitor surveillance equipment including Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTV), perimeter alarms, duress alarms, and fire life safety systems.
  • Secure property entrances by locking them as necessary.
  • Perform daily inspections to identify and mitigate physical hazards.
  • Respond promptly to incidents such as accidents, administering first aid or CPR when needed and coordinating with emergency medical services.
  • Provide support to guests and employees during emergencies, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Alert designated personnel in cases of accidents, attacks, or other security-related occurrences.
  • Manage disturbances involving guests or staff, including defusing confrontations.
  • Request external assistance when required through established codes or communication protocols.
  • Complete detailed incident reports documenting all security and loss prevention events.
  • Handle interruptions and complaints effectively and professionally.
  • Mitigate and resolve safety hazards found on the premises.
  • Escort unwelcome individuals off the property without disturbing business operations.
  • Attend scenes of vehicle incidents such as accidents or thefts as necessary.
  • Prepare a daily shift summary or activity report centered on loss prevention efforts.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive security and property documents, disclosing information only to authorized personnel.
  • Conduct investigations, collect evidence, and perform interviews relevant to security matters.
  • Adhere strictly to company policies and procedures, report unsafe conditions or incidents to supervisors, and complete mandated safety trainings.
  • Maintain a professional appearance including clean uniforms and grooming standards.
  • Offer courteous guest service by welcoming, acknowledging, and assisting guests, including those with disabilities, while anticipating their needs.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in all verbal and written interactions.
  • Collaborate positively with coworkers to achieve team and organizational goals.
  • Comply with established quality assurance standards and expectations.
  • Meet physical demands such as standing, sitting, walking for prolonged periods, navigating confined or uneven spaces, lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted or over 75 pounds with help, and performing fine motor tasks.
  • Carry out any reasonable additional duties assigned by supervisory staff.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Educational attainment: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • No prior related work or supervisory experience is necessary.
  • No specific licenses or certifications are required for this role.
