Role Overview
The position of Security Officer is a full-time, on-location role situated in Port Moresby. Responsibilities include vigilance over premises, managing entry points, carrying out scheduled patrols, and promptly reporting suspicious activities or safety concerns. Duties encompass inspecting doors, gates, and security equipment, verifying identities when necessary, and ensuring compliance with security procedures for visitors and staff alike. The officer will also respond to incidents, maintain detailed incident logs, collaborate with law enforcement and emergency responders as required, and present a professional and approachable demeanor to uphold the safety of clients and the public. Adherence to company protocols, proper use of communication tools, and active participation in briefings and training are essential aspects of this role.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Exceptional observation capabilities, situational awareness, and attention to detail to recognize risks and maintain composure during stressful scenarios.
- Strong communication skills, including clear verbal reporting, fundamental written incident recording, and professional interaction with clients, colleagues, and the public.
- Suitable physical fitness and endurance for prolonged standing, patrol activities, and security inspections.
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or related sectors is favorable; experience in customer service roles is also advantageous.
- Understanding of basic security protocols, access control measures, and emergency procedures, with a willingness to adhere to company guidelines.
- Proven dependability, integrity, and discretion when managing confidential client and security information.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays as needed.
- Completion of high school education or equivalent preferred; additional security-related training or certifications are beneficial.
- Legal authorization to work in Papua New Guinea and ability to satisfy licensing or background check requirements for security personnel.
