Security Officer

Job Overview

Join our Security team at Coop Retail Store Aberdeen, located at 2 Mounthooly Way, Aberdeen, AB24 3ER. This role involves safeguarding customer property, personnel, and assets by delivering security services strictly aligned with the published Assignment Instructions and any updates. Working 40 hours weekly, you'll play a key role in meeting and exceeding the customer's key performance indicators to help maintain contract retention. Continuous self-improvement through additional training is expected.

Main Duties

• Ensure full compliance with all policies, legal, and regulatory requirements as directed by the Security Account Manager, following UK law and relevant guidance bodies.
• Execute all tasks outlined in the Assignment Instructions thoroughly.
• Regularly review Assignment Instructions for potential improvements to service delivery.
• Maintain required licensing: a frontline Security Guarding or Door Supervision licence must be obtained and worn at all times on duty. A CCTV PSS SIA Licence and other contractually mandated trainings are also required.
• Adhere strictly to legal and safety obligations relevant to the role, working methodically and following instructions without unnecessary challenge to authority.

Training

• Complete all mandatory competency training successfully.
• Engage in further training for ongoing professional development as directed.
• Use technological tools to enhance job knowledge and meet work objectives.
• Responsible for renewing licences at least 16 weeks prior to expiry.

Safety and Security Responsibilities

• Identify and promptly report any health and safety hazards or risks on site.
• Remain vigilant for threats or changes in the environment and act promptly to prevent disruptions or damage.
• Apply sound judgment and involve others immediately if situations become threatening.
• Maintain professional behavior during challenging encounters and record detailed and accurate incident reports promptly.
• Adhere to schedules, demonstrating commitment to both Mitie and the client.
• Ensure timely check calls as specified in Assignment Instructions and report incidents to emergency services and the Communication Centre as required.

Candidate Profile

• Prior experience in security roles is essential.
• Possession of a valid SIA Licence is mandatory.
• Security Clearance (SC) is required.
