Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Security Officer to join our established team at Marlands Shopping Centre, Southampton. The role involves maintaining a secure environment for visitors and staff by conducting regular patrols, monitoring activities, and responding swiftly to incidents. This position reports to the Operations Manager and follows a 4 on 4 off schedule with shifts from 10:15 AM to 10:15 PM, averaging 42 hours weekly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safeguard client property, personnel, and assets by adhering closely to site-specific Assignment Instructions and procedures.
  • Identify and report anomalies or irregularities to prevent loss or damage, enforcing policies as necessary.
  • Escalate incidents promptly and accurately to designated authorities including Control Room, Shift Manager, Operations Manager, or Emergency Services in severe cases.
  • Operate and supervise site CCTV equipment effectively.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of observations, occurrences, and surveillance activities in reports.
  • Ensure compliance with legal standards to uphold organizational integrity and reputation.
  • Contribute towards team objectives and collaborate with colleagues as needed.
  • Provide professional and courteous first-line support to customers and visitors.
  • Respond appropriately to customer inquiries and requirements, delivering excellent service.
  • Maintain professional behavior and appearance at all times.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Valid frontline SIA licence (DS or SG categories mandatory).
  • Complete and verifiable employment history for the past five years.
  • Experience in customer service with confidence in managing conflicts suitably.
  • Flexibility to meet scheduling and job demands.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Neat and professional personal appearance.
  • Dependability reflected in punctuality and reliability.
  • High enthusiasm and passion for the role.
  • Capacity to perform efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
