About the role
This Scheme Lead Officer position is ideal for someone with leadership or foreman experience who enjoys diverse tasks involving the supervision of a small team. Key responsibilities include maintenance of flood protection assets such as floodgates, stopbanks, pump stations, drain spraying, fencing, supporting contractors, inspecting rivers, streams and drains, minor construction, chainsaw use and tree felling, along with planting and releasing activities.
The role also requires participation in emergency and event responses, including Civil Defence operations. A strong commitment to health and safety is essential, ensuring adherence to safe policies and procedures to protect staff wellbeing.

Qualifications and experience
- Full New Zealand driver's licence
- Basic computer proficiency to operate iPads, phone applications, and complete timesheets
- Good customer service skills for occasional interaction with landowners
Preferred but not mandatory:
- Experience in construction, building, tree felling, or chainsaw operation
- Familiarity with plant and machinery operation
- Weed spraying and vegetation management experience
- General fencing and land management work
About the team
This position is based within the Hauraki Operations team in Te Aroha, carrying out projects and maintenance across the Hauraki and Coromandel areas as well as the wider Waikato Region. The team values innovation, responsiveness, a positive "can do" attitude and a strong commitment to completing tasks efficiently.
