Job description

Position Overview

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based at one of the NZ Transport Agency's main offices in New Zealand. The role focuses on transforming complexity into clarity and providing confidence through effective project scheduling.

Main Responsibilities

As the Scheduling Principal Specialist, you will lead scheduling best practices across major infrastructure projects and programmes within NZTA’s Infrastructure Development & Delivery portfolio. You will offer expert advice, assurance, and coaching to project teams and senior stakeholders, collaborate with project controls, risk, and delivery experts to identify critical path risks, improve forecast accuracy, and enhance decision-making via high-quality schedule insights.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a seasoned project controls or scheduling professional with a thorough understanding of robust planning, forecasting, and critical path analysis to ensure successful project outcomes. Familiarity with Primavera software is advantageous but not mandatory.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven extensive experience in project scheduling and project controls.
  • Strong knowledge of critical path analysis and schedule risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing and assuring complex infrastructure project schedules.
  • Excellent analytical skills and forecasting capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A collaborative mindset with a dedication to enhancing team capabilities.
