Buffalo Rock Company is seeking a dedicated Surface Sanitation Technician to join the Quality Control Team at their Birmingham, AL facility. This role is essential in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of all machinery within the plant to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain consistent and punctual attendance and work all shifts necessary, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support plant operations.
• Thoroughly sanitize all equipment and machinery throughout the production line.
• Protect sensors, lights, and motors by wrapping them before cleaning machinery components.
• Clean areas surrounding sanitized equipment to maintain a hygienic environment.
• Perform weekly cleaning of the lift station using a ladder.
• Sanitize equipment starting from the beginning of the production line, including depalletizers and palletizers.
• Climb machinery such as palletizers, depalletizers, and catwalks as required to complete sanitation tasks.
• Adhere strictly to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as outlined in CFR Title 21 Section 110 and participate in all mandatory food safety trainings.
• Identify and report any potential food safety concerns promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The position is based indoors in an environment that is not temperature-controlled. Physical requirements include frequent standing, walking, manipulation, grasping, speaking, reaching (both outward and above shoulder level), bending, squatting or kneeling, and occasional climbing and crawling. The role regularly involves lifting and carrying weights ranging mostly from 10 to 50 pounds, with some activities requiring lifting up to 100 pounds.

Education & Experience

A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required. No prior experience is necessary for this position.
