Job Overview
This role supports the Food Safety and Sanitation goals within the manufacturing facility in Decatur, AL. The technician is responsible for upholding sanitation standards in accordance with the Food Safety Plan, Sanitation SOPs, and company policies, maintaining cleanliness in and around the production areas.
Shift Details
Positions are available for both Day and Night shifts on a 12-hour 2-2-3 schedule. Day shifts run from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, while night shifts are from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
Key Duties
- Conduct routine sanitation and janitorial tasks throughout the food production facility, including cleaning equipment, buildings, and grounds
- Monitor and ensure that pest control measures are functioning as intended
- Contribute to resolving environmental food safety issues within the plant
- Respond promptly to sanitation emergencies within the facility
- Perform additional assigned tasks as required
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or GED mandatory
- Minimum of one year of operational plant experience (internal candidates)
- Prior sanitation work experience in the food industry preferred
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes
- Capability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
- Adherence to rules and standard procedures
- Proven teamwork abilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Basic proficiency with computers, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented and fast learner
- Ability to collaborate across departments
- Independent worker who can operate with minimal supervision
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights safely
- Qualified to operate powered equipment such as forklifts and scissor lifts
- Experience using janitorial machinery including floor scrubbers
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds routinely and pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to stand and walk on hard surfaces for long durations
Additional Conditions
- May require mandatory overtime on short notice
- Occasional work during seven-day weeks
- Compliance with Confined Space Entry and Fall Protection safety protocols
- Strict attendance standards must be maintained
- Position involves physically demanding tasks
- Work carried out under Good Manufacturing Practices and applicable Regulatory Food Safety Programs
